World record carp tops 100lb barrier

The world’s first carp over the 100lb barrier has been banked by Austrian angler Roman Hanke.

The huge fished weighed in 46kg 100g (just over 100lb) from a privately-owned water called Euro-Aqua, located 180km southeast of Vienna, on the shores of Lake Balaton in Nemzeti National Park, Hungary.

The fish narrowly beats the existing world record, a 99lb fish called The Scar, which resides in French fishery Les Graviers, and was caught at that weight almost exactly two years ago by British angler John Bryan.
