Two bites in the space of 10 hours saw Nick Davies land a brace of carp for a combined weight of 96lb 8oz from RH Fisheries Acton Burnell Bottom Lake.
The 38-year-old Powys-based rod had booked a week session on the Shropshire water with the hope of catching a forty and he achieved this feat and more within the first 24 hours landing the lake’s two most sought after carp.
The first fish to fall to his Sticky Vortex balanced hookbait was the huge common known as Bill at a weight of 52lb 6oz smashing his old pb of 35lb 7oz. His second rod fished in a silty gulley at 45yds then produced a 44lb 2oz mirror called the Dave Moore Fish.
He said: “I was literally speechless. I honestly couldn’t have dreamt of a better session!”
Nick put his faith in products from the Korda stable and beat both fish with N-Trap hooklinks and size 6 Wide Gape hooks.
