A brand new commercial complex has set its sights on competing with the best fisheries in the country just days after opening its doors to the public.
Bosses at Chester Lakes have unveiled three mixed match waters and a specimen carp syndicate, as well as announcing their intention to turn another of its pools into the best ‘runs’ water in the county ¬ but the plans don’t stop there.
Two other waters set slightly off the main complex could also be in for a major overhaul in the near future, with a children’s pool and an idyllic ‘stalking’ water set to be created.
Fishery manager and well-known match angler Andy Wilkie has played a major part in coming up with the three-year development plan, and he’s adamant the Cheshire fishery has the potential to become nationally recognised over the coming seasons.
“I’ve been an angler for a long time and I’ve helped design a fishery that I would enjoy visiting myself,” said Andy.
“We’ve created an extensive path system that runs around the whole fishery, planted lots of shrubbery to create a picturesque setting and made all the pegs comfortable and spacious. We also have an on-site café providing food and drinks all day. I believe we can offer anglers the full package,” he added.
Despite having just begun his career in fishery management, Andy is already determined to expand his portfolio - as he explained to Angling Times.
“I’d like to think we can open other sites in the future and become one of the best fisheries around. We’re very ambitious and we’ll always work hard to provide for anglers,” insisted Andy.
