A keen angler has vowed to splash the cash in pursuit of a new personal best carp after winning the Lotto jackpot.
Essex-based rod Terry Vigus scooped almost £1.2m after his lucky numbers came in last weekend and the carp fishing enthusiast has wasted no time in drawing up a luxurious wish list.
His spending spree is set to start with the purchase of a top of the range motorhome that will be used to transport him to some of the finest specimen waters in the land.
Trips to prolific French carp waters, tickets for expensive syndicate lakes and new tackle could also be bought with his winnings. Terry exclusively told Angling Times: “It hasn’t sunk in yet but one of the first thoughts I had was ‘what fishing related items I could buy with the money?’.”
“I’m a family orientated man so I’ll be looking to pay off mine and my daughter’s mortgage but on a personal note a campervan to take to lakes throughout the country is top of the list.
“My personal best in the UK stands at 26lb 4oz and my French record is 31lb so I hope that I can get to venues where I can beat those by some margin,” he added.
Incredibly, it was a change of strategy in picking his numbers that led to the life-changing win, with a bizarre dream prompting him to make the move.
“I had a dream a few weeks before where I imagined winning the lottery. I mentioned it to my family and my daughter suggested I use birthday dates as opposed to getting my normal Lucky Dip. Incredibly, the tactic worked!” he said.
Terry’s winning numbers were 03, 05, 08, 10, 16 and 17.
