Viaduct Fishery in Somerset has been living upto its reputation as one of the best silverfish commercials in the country, with big bags being recorded every match recently. This weekend saw the previous record of 123lb smashed when, Matthew Skyme weighed a fantastic 132lb 8oz of mainly skimmers and bream from peg 132 on Campbell Lake.

"132 at Viaduct is a corner peg at the shallower end of the lake. I fished 7m in front, in 4ft of water, and 7m down the right edge in 3ft of water, with both producing bream from 1.5lb-3lb, aswell as tench and perch" Matthew told us.

"I used a 4x12 RW maggot float with a spread bulk and 0.10 hooklength with a 16 Drennan Acolyte Silverfish hook on both lines."

"Bait throughout the day was a worm head. Feeding was also the same, kinder potting a mix of groundbait (F1 Dark and Tom Thick Sweet Fishmeal) micro pellets, casters and chopped worms in a slop/paste. When a line went funny, I potted in a snooker ball size of the slop and rested it," he concluded.

This wasn't the only impressive performance of the day however, as the top 5 anglers managed to catch 350lb of silverfish between them, with runner up Tony Rixon putting 85lb on the scales on what was a phenomenal days angling for many.
