A homemade boilie led to the capture of a new personal best for Alan Dack – this 46lb 8oz common from Fryerning Fisheries’ Main Lake.

The 65-year-old from Dartford had scattered 2kg of nut flavoured boilies over a firm gravel patch he had located 70yds from the bank on the 18-acre venue.

Not did the sought after specimen, a fish known as the Mommon, smash Alan’s pb by 10lb it also set a new a lake record for a common carp.

“This is the second time in the last month that I’ve broken my personal best after landing a rarely caught 38lb 8oz a couple of weeks ago,” Alan told Angling Times. “To say I was over the moon is an understatement.”

Alan fished his hookbaits snowman style on stiff rigs incorporating 8ins 14lb Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon hooklinks and 3oz Korda leads.
