Gigantic 46lb pike equals English best

The joint biggest pike ever taken in England has been banked from a trout lake in Northern England.

Weighing 46lb exactly, it equals the monster taken by Anthony Hewlett from an undisclosed water in 2007 and fell to a novice predator angler, on a deadbait.

It is just 13oz shy of the current UK record from Llandegfedd reservoir in Wales. For more, see tomorrow’s Angling Times.
