Big sharks on the prowl!

A raft of huge sharks to over 300lb have been banked from UK waters this week in what is turning out to be a bumper summer for the species.

Just a month after numbers of highly aggressive Oceanic White Tip sharks were spotted off the coast of Devon and Cornwall, British anglers aboard charter boats on the west coast of England and east coast of Ireland have been enjoying hectic sport from big porbeagle and blue sharks, with more than a dozen being taken each day by some boats.

The sheer numbers of sharks showing up in fishing grounds has surprised many skippers, not least Hamish Currie, whose customers enjoyed a red letter day last week, taking seven big sharks including a trio weighing 150lb, 180lb and 300lb.
