Big cat hunt ends in success
Tring’s Marsworth reservoir is well known for the quality of its specimen angling, a fact it proved when one of its larger residents was banked by big fish angler David Broomhead.
The 48lb 12oz catfish fell to free-lined luncheon meat and took David half-an-hour to land – with matters made more complicated when his reel's spool broke halfway through the scrap.
“It was a bit difficult after the spool broke off. In the end I had to hand line the fish out, luckily I had help,” David told AT.
The big cat was tamed using 15lb korda Subline and a Catfish Pro hook.
