After what can only be described as an horrendous winter, making fishing over the past three months a near impossibility for most of us, ten teams of die hards have braved the elements to fish the Alders Farm Teams of four Winter League 2010/11. With Bag’em/Tubertini and GOT Baits level on points and only weight count back separating them, the penultimate round was going to be a very tense affair indeed.
The all important draw took place and Bag’em/Tubertini drew well putting all the pressure on the GOT Baits team but the job in hand was too big a task for the Alders Farm regulars. On the day team Bag’em/Tubertini battled to their second consecutive winter league victory with sections wins for Barry Mason, Matt Grant, Mick McMillan and a 4th in section for team captain Steve Potter, which was enough to give them the title by a clear margin of 14 points.
To add yet another accolade to this very impressive all round team performance, the leagues top point scorer was Wellingborough-based rod Matt Grant. He amassed an incredible 49 out of a possible 50 section points, which is an incredible personal achievement, especially when you take into consideration the conditions that Matt and all the anglers taking part had to contend with.
