A lifetime ambition was finally realised by Chris Gadsden with the capture of this 1lb dace from the River Wey.
The fish was the biggest of around 30 caught by Farnborough-based 67-year-old while trotting maggots on the Surrey waterway.
He said: “It has taken me 57-years to achieve this target since I first a line at the age of 10. It was by far the longest dace I have ever seen and measured 10.5 inches.”
Chris’ successful presentation consisted of a single maggot on a size 20 hook and 0.8 hooklink under an alloy stem 6 no.4 stick float.
