31lb pike is best of seven fish haul

Patrick Rooney had a session to remember when he landed a brace of specimen pike – this fish of 31lb the highlight – during a session on an undisclosed Irish stillwater.

The keen predator angler from County Down, Northern Ireland trolled a Green Tiger Fatso lure along a likely looking ledge and the artificial bait was soon taking by a pike of 28lb 4oz.

Once the fish was photographed and returned he moved over to the opposite side of the channel. It proved to be a wise decision as shortly after he hooked and landed the biggest of the duo.

A further four double and a jack pike completed the successful outing.
