23lb mirror tops day's haul of 35 fish

Tom Oliver proved that big hits of fish can still be made in the winter, landing 35 carp during a day session on a southern stillwater.

The biggest of the Gardner Tackle backed-rod’s haul tipped the scales at 23lb with majority being mid-upper doubles.

Tom fished over a large baited area of Hinders Carp Krunch, Little Gemz Pellets and Carp Company Ice Red boilies with snowman rigs tied from 25lb Gardner Sink Skin and size 8 Covert Continental Muggas.

He said: “Whenever the action slowed up I put a bit more bait out and the bites quickly started coming thick and fast again.”
