Turbot on a conger bait!

Fish tend to forget the size of the hook when there’s free food available.

Proving this point last week was Hampshire angler Brian Coote who caught an 'out of the blue' 7lb turbot after it snaffled up a huge legered bait intended for conger eels.

Rob Hickins, skipper of the Portsmouth charter boat Sea Juicer said: “The fish came from a rough ground mark which was lying in 60ft of water and took a whole mackerel bait fished on a heavy 6/0 hook!”
