Sea angler suffers head injuries in cliff fall

Sea anglers are being warned to take extra care when targeting hazardous areas after a fisherman fell from a 15 foot cliff during a session and suffered serious injuries.

The 72-year-old rod – who is yet to be named- tumbled from a spot known as The Ledge at Berry Head Quarry in Brixham and was recovered from the water by the local coastguard after they received a 999 call from a member of the public.

Officials made the decision to close the beach in order to aid the rescue effort, with an air ambulance tending to the casualty.
