Former Fish O’Mania finalist Andy May secured his place in this year’s showpiece by winning at Herenbrook in the latest qualifier.
The MAP-based commercial expert weighed 61kg 300gr of carp from peg 10 on Canal to win the 14th qualifying round of the £30,000 winner-takes-all contest. Pellet fished shallow was the successful tactic.
It was enough to beat Adam Rooney, Kamasan Starlets, who had 46kg 220gr from peg 36 on Bridge.
“I felt confident that I was in with a chance when I drew my peg and had a good day’s fishing,” said Andy. “I am really looking forward to the final at Cudmore as it is my regular venue, and this will be my second time now as I first qualified at Cudmore in 2008, so can’t wait”.
