Anglers warned as crime wave sweeps UK

UK police forces are this week warning anglers to ‘keep their fishing tackle in their houses’ as thefts from garages and garden sheds reach an annual high.

The recommendation comes as the Government’s most recent crime survey reveals that burglary in the UK has increased by 14 percent during 2010/11 - a figure in stark contrast to the previous year which saw the crime category fall by nearly 10 percent.

It is news that will concern tens of thousands of anglers who store expensive tackle items in sheds and outhouses, especially as many regions across the UK have seen a marked increase in criminals targeting both garages and garden sheds since the beginning of May this year.
