Nottingham-based company Dynamite Baits has been sold to tackle giant Rapala for 5.3million pounds.
First established some 15 years ago, Dynamite has witnessed fast growth and in 2009 the net sales for the boilie, particles, pellet and groundbait were 6.5 million, of which 20 per cent was outside the UK.
The acquisition is part of Rapala’s strategy for profitable growth and will make them a strong player in the carp market.
Trade insiders now expect to see a wealth of Dynamite branded carp accessories flood into the UK and European tackle shops.
In Britain alone, Dynamite services 1200 outlets.
Jorma Kasslin, CEO of Rapala, said: “As a result of this acquisition we are able to offer a wide range of products including baits, hooks, accessories, terminal tackle, and fishing lines to carp fishermen.”
Dynamite currently employs 60 staff and existing Managing Director Marcus Twidale will remain in his current role.
