Staff from the Environment Agency visited Cheshire’s Partridge Lakes to analyse the stocks in Covey Canal No4, with the removal of tiny silverfish the main aim.

Thousands of small roach and rudd were taken out and rehomed in a growing pond elsewhere on the complex and the move will give the resident carp and F1s more space to grow.

Partridge Lakes is a superb commercial complex.

It will also boost oxygen levels during the warmer months, and this will encourage the fish to feed more competitively and lead to more impressive catches.

Several surprises including bright orange goldfish and perch to over 2lb were found during the process, with all those fish returned to the lake for anglers to catch in the future.
