Chub can sometimes be a nuisance to anglers when barbel fishing but Harley Hanslip certainly wasn't complaining when this enormous 7lb 8oz specimen muscled into his barbel swim on the River Trent.

Having not caught anything, he was doubtful of getting a bite, so decided to combine two favourite barbel baits on to his hair and recast - a small chunk of meat and a halibut pellet.
"I had a few good taps on the rod-tip and lifted into what felt like a barbel," he told us.
“I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw the sheer size of the chub I’d hooked!
"It weighed 7lb 8oz, and is a PB I’ll struggle to beat.”
