Although designed primarily for use on commercial carp fisheries, the flatbed Method feeder has snuck its way into specimen angling circles in recent years.

Generally, it’s crucian carp and bream anglers that have adopted the tactic, but Jack Jacura has been having fantastic results using the flatbed Method for barbel on the Thames – as proved by this superb new personal best of 17lb 12oz he’s just landed.

It comes hot on the heels of several other large barbel he’s banked in recent weeks, including a 17lb 4oz specimen, and fell during a short session running from 10pm to 2am.

Jack wrapped the feeder’s frame in a crumb groundbait and used a boilie hookbait alongside it to tempt the giant.
