The freezing cold conditions are set to cause chaos and disruption for anglers across the land this weekend, with dozens of venues temporarily closing their doors.

Thick ice has developed as a result of the low temperatures, with a number of big fisheries putting a stop to action until the thaw kicks in.

Lakes are frozen across the country.

Top commercials including Bolton’s Bradshaw Hall Fisheries and Nottinghamshire’s Sherwood Forest Fishery are shut until at least the early stages of next weekend.

Many of those that remain open are advising anglers that ice breaking will be required to wet a line.

The icy blast is set to continue in the coming days, before temperatures begin to climb slightly from Monday afternoon.
