Daniel Hickman from East Sussex christened his new rods in style with this 36lb 3oz personal best and new lake record common from a local stillwater.
After a quick walk round the 2.5-acre lake, the 25-year-old salesman found a group of 10 carp in one corner. With his rods in position he only had to wait 45 minutes for the first take, which resulted in an 18lb 8oz ghostie.
The best was still to come, though, and 10 minutes later he received another bite and after a powerful fight he landed the big common.
“I’d only actually gone to the lake to test my new rods and never expected to catch,” said Daniel, whose new pb fell to a Mainline Baits pop-up mounted on a chod rig.
