The Sonik Insurgent reel is perfect for a new carp angler, available in a 5000 and 6000 body size, the reel is designed to cope with the rigours of modern day angling.

The Daiwa Emblem Spod reel needs little introduction amongst angling enthusiasts, it is regarded as one of the best and most capable reels for spodding out there. One of the most expensive poles on the market but also one of the best performers. The Daiwa Air Z Pro pole is incredibly light, even at 16m. With a match top two kit, this is the best pole in the world. Even with the heavier top kits, it's ridiculously rigid, incredibly responsive and super stiff.

The section wall strength of this pole is good, which means it can land some pretty big carp, certainly up to 20lb. If accidents do happen, Daiwa spares are readily available in the UK, so you won't be left with a situation where you can't go fishing.

At this amount of money, resale value is also a key consideration, and Daiwa poles tend to hold their value far better than others on the market.

The Preston Innovations Superium X90 is a bewilderingly good fishing pole, which is incredibly stiff at all lengths. This makes precision and rig control easy whilst still offering strength and durability when it matters.

All Superium poles benefit from a new joint-saving feature called Dura Wrap, which will make the poles last longer, even with intense use. The Easy Ship Finish makes the pole a joy in the hand too.

The Korum KBI Compact Bite Alarm is the perfect alarm for anglers that don't always require an alarm but like to keep one with them for the occasions they do want to use one. These alarms are super compact, measuring 39mm x 85mm x 25mm in size, you can easily keep one or two in your tackle bag without even realising they are there, allowing you to take them on every trip regardless if you'll use them or not.

The volume is adjustable and they are incredibly loud for their size, with the speaker being water resistant to prevent it being damaged. The 5mm LED is available in red and is really visible, so you'll certainly see when you get a bite. For the price and the size, it's hard to believe they aren't in every angler's bag.

Regarded as one of the strongest shelters on the market, the Nash Titan Hide is a great product for those looking for a fast erect, brolly/bivvy hybrid. With a whole host of extras that can be added, the Titan Hide is as suited to overnight angling as it is to those fishing longer sessions. The flat back design allows a bedchair to be positioned against the rear of the shelter, ensuring the maximum space-to-footprint ratio is utilised. 5000mm waterproof material will help keep you dry in the most horrendous of weather conditions.

The Hide uses a locking system, which gives the shelter its rigidity, eliminating the need for storm poles whilst also allowing the shelter to be freestanding. We would say there aren't many faster bivvies to set up on the market.

As with most things Fox make, the Fox Digital Scales are no different, they are reliable and durable. The scales are designed to make the whole process efficient and easy for the angler, and to ensure the fish is out of the water for the minimal amount of time during the weighing process. The scales are easily zeroed by attaching the weigh sling and pressing the tare (zero) button, so there is no need to weigh the sling after and subtract it from the weight of the fish.

The digital display features a backlight to illuminate the reading in all conditions, as well as a low battery indicator to make sure you don't get caught out. There is an on-off button to make sure power is only used when required to extend the battery life, but it is worth noting you need a screwdriver to remove them.

The scales are chunky and well built, they won't be damaged by being knocked about or dropped, and the rubber hardcase they come in will make sure they come to no harm in transit.

The metal loop at the top of the scales is large enough to get your finger in to hold smaller fish up but it's much safer to utilise a crook or weigh bar. The scales will weigh in kilos or pounds depending on your preference.
