Top three share almost 500lb of carp in eagerly anticipated match

The first match to be staged on a highly regarded fishery that has just opened to day ticket anglers went down a storm as the top three shared almost 500lb of carp between them.

Cornwall's Bolingey Lakes has been a highlight of the week for years on end to those entering White Acres festivals, with hectic action all but guaranteed at the complex.

The deal between Bolingey and White Acres recently came to an end, and with no new agreement put in place, it was decided that open matches and day ticket action would start to play a major part in the calendar.

The was plenty of rod bending action during the first event, with Richie Hull coming out on top with 170lb. Drawn on peg 21, he worked with the feeder and three red maggotson the hook to keep the carp coming.

Second spot went to Kev Baxter who accumulated 160lb from peg 14, with James Howarth's 157lb 12oz from peg 5 securing third. Each section was also won with a triple figure haul, with the lowest zone topping weight coming in at 123lb 12oz.
