Big bream are notoriously one of the hardest fish to catch by design, but Alfie Snow has a fantastic record with the species, having just landed this fish of 18lb 11oz.
Impressively, it’s the 15-year-olds 11th double-figure bream, and was caught from an ultra-tricky southern gravel pit. Alfie fishes with his dad, Lee, an expert bream angler, and has spent the past few seasons learning the ropes from him.
For around a year now Alfie’s had his own set of rods, and on this latest session, he targeted a deep gulley behind a bar. As it’s still early in the season, Alfie fed lightly, introducing just a couple of handfuls of casters, corn, hemp and pellets.
Over the top, Alfie fished a corn and caster hookbait on a hair rig, incorporating a size 10 Gardner Barbel Hook.
On the first night of his session, he landed a fish of 11lb 15oz, which was followed by the huge 18lb 11oz male, which smashes his previous PB of 14lb 13oz.
Although he spends many weekends blanking on tricky waters, Alfie loves the unknown and is motivated by the hope of that next special fish coming along!
