Ona recent trip to a flooded River Thames, Lee Tebble had a session to remember in which he landed not only a PB barbel of 17lb 3oz, but also a second big fish of 14lb 10oz.
With flood warnings in place, Lee headed for a swim where he knew he could fish safely, mindful that the river was a metre up on its average height for the time of year. Fishing a hair-rigged lump of curry flavoured Spam on strong tackle, Lee had the take from the ‘seventeen’ first, with that bite coming at around 9pm.
He was delighted enough with that fish, which smashed his previous PB of 15lb 7oz, also caught from the Thames way back in the autumn of 2014.
However, just an hour later, Lee landed the 14lb 10oz specimen, which like the bigger of his brace, put up a great fight in the powerful flow.
