The last thing any angler wants to do on a tricky venue is lose a fish, but after doing so during a recent session, Adam Riches put things right a few days later with this 18lb 8oz bream – his new personal best for the species.
He was fishing a large Midlands water where, during a trip earlier this spring, Adam had landed a male that was covered in tubercles, leading him to fear that the bream would soon be spawning in the unseasonably warm conditions.
But a cool northerly wind kept them feeding and, after locating some fish in a section of the lake, he was gutted to lose one in the early hours of the morning. However, a few days later he returned and redressed the balance in fine style with the new PB.
A homemade boilie hookbait fished on a helicopter rig to a silty area at range resulted in the all-important bite.
