A trip to a Dorset chalk stream brought Mark Meth-Cohn this grayling of 3lb exactly.

Floatfishing proved tricky as the current pulled his rig back towards him, so he moved further upstream.

After catching a few small grayling and the odd trout, his float buried and he hooked what he instantly knew to be a bigger fish.

Precariously, he picked his way down the flooded bank, using his landing net pole to probe for firm ground.

He managed to keep in touch with the fish throughout, and safely netted the specimen, that breaks his previous PB by 13oz.
