Throop Fishery on the Dorset Stour is best known for its chub these days, but there are some huge barbel there too, as venue regular Paul Potts proved with this 17lb 13oz fish.

It's the biggest barbel ever caught from the famous stretch of river, and was taken during floodwater conditions.

A Blue Protein Cheese dumbbell hookbait - wrapped in paste and fished alongside a PVA bag filled with micro pellets and the same bait, but crushed - tempted the fish.

Paul said that the barbel put up an epic fight in the heavy flow, before finally coming to the net.
