Due to recent floods, Iestyn Jones’ pike campaign had been put on hold. However, when levels on his local River Wye dropped, he wasted no time in getting out fishing, and was rewarded with this impressive 30lb 12oz specimen.

It's his second 'thirty' from the venue, as he had a fish of 30lb 8oz from the river last year.

The Aberdare angler targeted a deep slack where a tree had come down and taken away part of the bank - a classic area for big pike.

At 8:30am, his floatfished herring was picked up and he hooked a fish that felt solid and held deep before finally surfacing.
