Match fishing superstar Jamie Hughes continues to break records as he qualified for the Fish O’Mania final for the 13th year in a row.

The Matrix-backed star has become part of the furniture in the annual showdown, and that won’t be changing this year after he secured his place during a tense heat at Oswestry’s Weston Pools.

It became apparent in the early stages of the event that Jack's Pool was in the best form, and with Jamie drawn on peg three, he was always going to present a serious danger.

A two horse race came to life, with Preston Innovations/SonuBaits NW team member Danny Keenan on peg 16 of the same lake and Jamie going toe to toe.

In the end it was the Jamie's long pole shallow and margin fishing tactics that prevailed, with Jamie placing 176lb 7oz on to the scales to just about edge out his rival's 167lb 11oz effort.

He will now take part in the July 27 final at Lincolnshire's Westwood Lakes where he will attempt to make even more history by winning his fourth Fish O'Mania title.
