Just a few weeks after landing a new PB barbel of 17lb 6oz, James Benfield obliterated that mark then he banked this huge 18lb 15oz specimen.

It was caught from the Warwickshire Avon, and fell to a legered pellet hookbait as part of a memorable six-fish haul that also included specimens scaling 13lb 5oz and 11lb 1oz.

Gloucestershire angler James told AT that he was 'absolutely made up' to catch the 'big one' - a known fish on the stretch which he's spent hundreds of hours targeting.
