Fishing was a hot topic on a prime-time radio show that clocks up almost a million listeners every day, with a trio of presenters having an entertaining debate about tackle shop names.

Nationally famous radio presenter Johnny Vaughan led the conversation during his ‘4 til 7 Thang’ drive time show on indie rock station Radio X, with sidekick Gavin ‘The Woodman’ Woods and news reader Sunta Templeton also getting involved.

The sport got mentioned because of a recent surge in profits for retail giants Angling Direct, with the team jokingly debating whether the brand could have a more appealing name.

The Woodman suggested ‘Fisherman’s Friend’ before a change of heart saw him insisting upom the word tackle being included for a touch of innuendo, with Sunta going for ‘Rods N’Spools'. Johnny – who reached stardom as a TV presenter on the cult Channel 4 programme ‘Big Breakfast’ -  was the last to give his view, going with ‘Fishing Hut’.

They were then inundated by listeners wanting to offer up their suggestions, with a series of ideas messaged in.

Amongst them were ‘Over and Trout’, ‘Keeping it Reel’ and ‘Snap, Tackle and Shop’, with the team declaring the latter their favourite and the winner of the debate.
