All-rounder Paul Elt enjoyed a superb day afloat on a Midlands stillwater, where he smashed his zander PB by over 2lb with this 15lb 8oz specimen.

He was fishing with his son, Jordan, and both anglers employed vertical jugging tactics due to a strong westerly wind. The conditions made the boat hard to handle, but eventually he located a shoal of prey fish in 55ft of water. He dropped his jig down, and when it was around a foot off the bottom he received a strong hit, which he initially thought was from a pike.

However, when a very big zander appeared he loosened the clutch to guard against any sudden last-minute lunges!
