Controlled by the Earl of Harrington’s AC, this mixed fishery produces carp to over 20lb on boilies over a bed of particles. Good nets of bream fall to micro pellets and a fishmeal groundbait packed inside a cage feeder. Perfect for well-behaved dogs that want to sit and relax in the sun whilst you fill your net.

Tanners and Woodpecker respond to both bomb and pellet and waggler shallow, while Beatties is the place for your first 20lb carp. Accommodation is available on site, and many of the lodges allow your dog to stay in them with you, with some fantastic walks nearby.

This fishery’s reputation has boomed in recent years. Home, Kestrel, Lapwing and Sand are the on-site specimen waters with carp to over 40lb and mammoth catfish. Dogs are permitted to join you if you wish to enjoy a session involving an overnight stint.

This fishery has been open for less than a year, but it is already proving itself as one of the finest tench venues in the region. Use a Method feeder with a bright wafter on Pines Lake for carp to 6lb. Manor is the biggest lake on the complex and although carp to over 25lb dominate catches, it's also home to perch to 2lb and bream and tench to 4lb. The grounds are perfect for walking well-behaved dogs on leads.

ELSECAR RESERVOIR, BARNSLEY, SOUTH YORKS
This beautiful reservoir isn't the easiest nut to crack, but persevere and you could be rewarded with a cracking net of bream and skimmers. Individual fish run to over 6lb. A large bed of groudbait, dead maggots and corn will draw them in. Despite being a challenge, what a way to pass the time with 'man's best friend' by your side.

A1 PITS, NEWARK, NOTTS
These vast pits are within a stone's throw of the busy A1, but the background hum of the traffic will soon disappear once you wet a line. There are six pits of varying sizes to have a crack at - No1 provides plenty of bites from smaller carp, while No6 is the biggest of the lot, where a giant 30lb carp could be your reward. You can park near your pegs and there is plenty of room to walk your dog around the site.

Fishing to the island on Sellicks with micros and corn will get carp just shy of double figures, while the 3.5 acre Big 8 is the place to head with boilies and bigger pellets for 20lb-plus fish. The Pool holds some huge ide to over 3lb which respond to maggots fished shallow on the pole or waggler. Waterside has 20 giant swims solely for the use of those with motorhomes or caravans. Long pole with 4mm cubes of meat shallow or on the deck will work for big skimmers and the odd bonus carp on both Bridge and Moat. Try down the margins towards an empty platform late in the day with big hard pellets and corn to find double-figure mirrors and commons. Can be a busy venue, but all five lakes have the potential to furnish you with a personal best carp, with fish to well over 40lb in the offing. Try fishing two rods over a baited area with another on just a single high-attract hookbait to pick off any wary big fish. This shallow park lake responds well to Method feeder tactics, and tench to 5lb and bream to 9lb are your reward if you get it right. Fish a few metres off the islands so that you are in slightly deeper water, regularly recasting inbetween walking the dog to keep the bed of bait topped up.

The 14-acre Specimen Lake has produced plenty of 20lb carp in the past. Boilies over a large bed of bait are the best way to draw them in. It is also a brilliant silverfish water. Zig rigs work well for the carp during the warmer months, and a bait suspended anywhere between 2ft and 5ft off the deck is likely to produce a few runs. Bream, roach and perch are also plentiful. A cage feeder chucked 40-50 yards is a reliable way of stringing bites together.
