When it comes to fishing commercials in the summer, it's hard to beat a good day on the pellet waggler! Not only does it keep you busy and active, but when it works, there aren't many more enjoyable ways to catch carp. If you want to give it a go, head to one of these venues for a prolific days fishing!

Makins Fishery, Wolvey, Warks

Of all the lakes on this popular complex, it’s those on Phase One that are best suited to the pellet waggler – carp in the 5lb-10lb bracket are numerous. Set the rig 2ft-3ft deep and recast regularly, aiming to retrieve it every 30 seconds. Any islands that can be reached with the waggler are a good starting point.

USE THE BEST PELLET WAGGLER RODS ON THESE VENUES.

Blake Hall Fisheries, Cheadle, Staffordshire

Head to Peninsula Lake and start your day on the bomb, feeding 8mm pellets over the top. The pellet waggler will soon take over when the carp come up in the water column, although regularly changing the depth by a few inches is key to keeping the bites coming.

Sumners Ponds, Horsham, West Sussex

The island that runs down the middle of the lake is a magnet for fish, and a reasonably heavy balsa waggler will reach it with ease. Start a couple of metres short of the feature and nudge closer if bites dry up. Expect fish to 15lb to turn up throughout the session.

The carp have packed on the pounds in recent years, and most are now in the 8lb-12lb bracket. Prime a line 25m from the bank with 8mm hard pellets while fishing a Method feeder at range. Keep feeding it for at least an hour before chucking a pellet waggler over the top.

PELLET WAGGLER REQUIRES THE BEST FISHING REELS.

Hayfield Lakes, Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Island and Adams are deep lakes, and it’s important to search the layers to find the fish. Start by fishing 5ft-6ft deep and come a fraction shallowerif you are getting indications but no bites. If you aren’t getting any indications at all, go slightly deeper.

SIT COMFORTABLY ON THE BEST FISHING SEATBOXES.

Stafford Moor, Dolton, Devon

Tanners and Woodpecker have a solid reputation for producing on the pellet waggler, with carp to 15lb present in both. Aim to fish approximately three-quarters of the way over to the islands and cast around your loosefeed zone to try and pick off any bigger fish on the edge of the shoal.

Southend Farm, Waltham Abbey, Essex

The carp to be found in the Main Lake spend most of the summer cruising close to the surface, and dropping a tiny foam pellet waggler that is set just a foot deep in front of their noses can often provoke a response. The fish are renowned for fighting hard, and so a hooklength of at least 7lb is strongly advised.

Loco Lake is the stand-out performer when it comes to pellet waggler fishing, and big F1s and carp will keep the float going under. Keep the wind on your back to make casting and rig placement easy and regularly tweak the depth to keep the fish coming.
