In what can only be described as a remarkable feat of angling, Pire Leung caught a 52lb 8oz carp whilst surface fishing at a Yorkshire club water. In an extraordinary turn of events, this is the second surface caught 50lber he has seen as his son, James, caught 'Tilly' at 50lb 12oz from Bluebell Lakes a few years earlier.
After James had some success on the water the evening before, and with the weather looking perfect, the pair ventured up for an evening session to try and catch a fish, with neither expecting the session to unfold the way it did.

"After finishing work early that day I suggested to my dad about going to the lake for a short session in the evening after having success the day before, catching a mid double," James told us.
"Originally we plotted up where the wind was blowing in but after 10-15 minutes it was clear to see the fish were in the middle of the wind where a couple of trees had created a calm zone in front of a couple of pegs."
After a quick move round to where the fish were located the pair began getting some bait into the water in the hope the fish would oblige and begin competing.
"After a few spods of floating pellets, the fish started feeding really vigorously, and it was time to make a cast," he said.
"We both cast our Pink Plum pop-ups by Next Level Hookbaits past the fish, and after a couple near misses my dad's pop up got nailed."
Happy to get a quick bite, the pair had no idea what fish had taken the hookbait, although when Pire hooked the fish he remarked it felt 'a good one'.
"The battle was over quickly, after stopping the initial first run, it came in like a dog on the lead and once in the net I let out a shout as I knew he had the 'biggun'."
"After hoisting it on the scale it weighed in at 52.8, a top weight for the fish and a very memorable evening," he concluded.
