Two giant pike in 2023 for expert predator angler

Predator fishing expert Michael Mellors capped off an incredible year when he bagged his second personal best pike of the season.

He got 2023 off to a flier in March when he slipped the net under an enormous 33lb 7oz specimen during a Pike Anglers Alliance for Scotland event at Stirling’s Lake Menteith Fisheries.

Most would accept they’d be waiting an age to break such a monumental record, but Michael was determined to go one better when he recently returned to the venue.

Having explored plenty of the venue via boat, the float eventually sailed under after a fish grabbed his floatfished sardine hookbait. It used every ounce of energy to test the tackle to the limit, but Michael eventually came out on top.

Measuring in at 117cm and weighing a colossal 33lb 14oz, it set another personal best for him just eight months after setting the initial benchmark.
