The phenomenal run of big carp captures in the UK has continued this week with another 60lb fish being banked, this time by angler Nathan Jackson and his incredible 61lb 8oz common.

Fishing a week-long session with some friends, Nathan was finding the action pretty slow, as were others around the lake, but a single bite towards the end of the booking made the session unforgettable.

"The session was proving quite tough, so I decided to really pile in the bait, in the hope of instigating a feeding response from the fish, as others were being quite cautious with their baiting," Nathan told us.

"I found a spot in around 4ft of water and applied 15kg of pellets and Essential Cell boilies, opting to fish D-rigs over the top."

"When I got the take, after the fish went on its first run, it held its own about 80 yards out, and I just couldn’t gain any line on it for a little while."

"After a stalemate, I gained some line back on the fish causing it to surface about 60 yards out."

Two of Nathan's friends were in the swim with him at the time and decided to take to the hill behind him for a better perspective of the fish he was attached to.

"Nath, you’ve got the big common on, we can see it,” they said.

"A few minutes later, the fish popped up a rod length out, and that’s when I realized they weren't lying to me. I managed to stay calm, and thankfully, the fish went straight into the net."

"I was completely in awe of the fish and just had a moment staring at it in the net, trying to comprehend what had just unfolded!"

"Emotion then took over, and we all shouted and screamed, 'Big Common,' with other anglers around the lake shouting their congratulations."

"We got her on the scales, and she went 61lb 8oz, a new PB and an extraordinary carp I'll never forget," he concluded.
