ON Sunday 22nd June, over 60 young anglers are expected to take part in a memorable event on the Shropshire Union Canal, and there’s still time to register.
Hosted by Port Sunlight Angling Club and the Canal and Rivers Trust, and sponsored by Daiwa, this Regional Celebration event is set to be a hit.
It’s one of 30 such events being held across the country, with the top three anglers of each going forward to a grand final in April next year, where a £500 Daiwa tackle voucher can be won.
The event is aimed at those over six-years-old who have been fishing a few times before and can provide their own tackle. There will be help available on the bank from qualified coaches on the day.
It’s hoped that there will be plenty of fish caught, with the event to be held on the stretch between Backford Bridge and Pretty Bridge, which has been in good form lately.
