Soar receives bumper fish stocking with thousands of chub and barbel added

An angling club that has set its sights on boosting the river fishing that is offers has been given a major helping hand after they received 4,000 fish from the Environment Agency.

Loughborough Soar AS control several stretches of the River Soar in and around the Leicestershire town and they have now given the 11 Arches and Pillings stretches a substantial top up, with all the stock coming the EA’s Calverton Fish Farm.

The introduction was made up of 2,000 small barbel and the same quantity of chub. All the barbel have a blue dye mark on their stomachs and the club are asking anyone that catches one to report it to them to help them track the movement of the fish.
