The future of one of the first commercials ever created is in doubt after it was forced to suddenly shut its gates.
Northamptonshire’s Heyford Fishery was a leading force in the development of the scene, with its giant 132-peg snake lake being opened to the public in the early 1990s.
Anglers raced from all over the land to sample its delights in the early days, with its success undoubtedly twisting the arm of other fishery bosses to create similar waters.

It has been leased by Dennetts for the last 15-years but following the completion of their long-term lease, they have decided not to renew it and have left with immediate effect to concentrate on their family business in Daventry.
Although the venue is currently closed, there is hope for the future, with a notice from the owners on the sealed gates reading:
“Sadly, the fishery is temporarily closed as the previous tenants, Dennetts, left at extremely short notice, allowing me no time to find another tenant.
“However, I do have interested parties, and so hopefully soon Heyford Fishery will be back open and restored to its former glory as one of England’s premier fishing venues’.
