CHUB sessions don’t get much better than the one George Cornwell has just enjoyed, landing a raft of good fish on the float topped by this 8lb 2oz giant.
Fishing the Hampshire Avon, he planned to target chub during the day before getting his barbel rod out for the evening.
Having selected a swim with good far-bank cover, George fed maggots with a catapult before running his 8g float through. Using a single maggot on a size 20 hook and 2lb 8oz hooklink, he’d taken eight fish to 6lb 3oz, before landing the biggest chub he’d ever seen.
He and a friend watched in awe as the needle on the scales spun round to past 8lb. George said the width of the fish was ‘simply incredible’.
