Over the past 12 months, a team of people in charge of a northern stillwater have taken the venue to new heights. Now it’s not only fishing exceptionally well, but is also playing a vital role for local people.
Thurnscoe Reservoir, in South Yorkshire, has been run for over 30 years by Carol and Warren Rodgers, who have maintained the venue and kept a healthy membership over that period. Not long ago their daughter, Megan, stepped in to help, and she told Angling Times about just some of the initiatives that have been undertaken at the fishery.
“We’ve set up a hut offering free bait, and fishing tackle for people to borrow, and increased the number of young people fishing, hosted mental health awareness days, and given free fishing passes to veterans."
"The pond has gone from strength to strength. More importantly, it’s become the heart of the community,” she added.
