HUGE perch landed from Yorkshire river on 'incredibly sensitive' set-up

RESERVOIR perch have dominated catch reports for the species so far this season, but there are still some superb fish in our rivers, as Sam Hubbard proved with this cracking 4lb 4oz predator.

The Yorkshire all-rounder has worked hard at his perch fishing over recent years, and it’s clear that his efforts are paying off. This fish is his new PB and was caught from a river in his home county on a single lobworm hookbait, mounted on a size 6 hook.

Sam used a light 1oz glass tip and a braided mainline, making for an incredibly sensitive set-up.

A soft, 1lb test curve rod cushioned the fight nicely, and helped him land a fish he’s truly chuffed with.
