A recent session for teenager, Casper Brookes at Nottingham's Trent View Fisheries resulted in an exceptional fully scaled mirror carp weighing 38lbs.

Positioned in peg 13 for the weekend, Casper was using solid bag tactics when the carp inhaled his coconut pop up, soaked in Wonderberry Goo.

"I received a drop back on my alarms and as the bobbin descended to the ground I ran to the rod and struck into the fish," he told us.

"I could instantly tell it was a big fish as the power was unrivalled to anything I had hooked before!

"The fish was almost unstoppable as it took line and had myrod bent double, both of which just added to the excitement,

"The battle was like nothing I have experienced, the fish took over 15 minutes to land and I was exhausted when I managed to slip the net under it to end the epic fight." he added.

Thankfully the bailiff was on hand to help Casper weigh and verify the big mirror whilst also sharing the moment as he slipped his new personal best back into the lake.
