ONE of the biggest resident carp at Oxfordshire’s popular Linear Fisheries complex has been landed this past week at an enormous 54lb.

Alex Rixon with the biggest carp in Brasenose 1

Alex Rixon was the captor of the huge mirror known as ‘The Beast of Brasenose’, which fell during a 72-hour session on Brasenose 1.

“It felt like a dream, literally a fish of a lifetime,” Alex told us.

“We planned the session hoping for a 30lb-plus PB, so couldn’t believe it when that giant was staring back at us.”

Setting up later than expected, Alex and his partner managed to get four rods out in the face of a strong wind, dropping six Spombs of feed over the top to tempt the fish. Just a few hours later they woke to some indications on the alarm, before the rod melted off.

“I instantly knew this was bigger than anything I’ve ever caught,” Alex said.

“Stripping line from the reel and hugging the bottom, it put up the fight of a lifetime too.

“When she finally broke the surface, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

“Thanks for blessing my net ‘Beast’.”

The mega carp fell to a Big Fish Baits BNutta pop-up presented on a Slip-D combi rig – superb angling!
