A club that offers free fishing to youngsters is raising funds to build a classroom in which they can help kids develop as anglers. Manchester Angling Club have hit the headlines over recent years, with its boss Jamie Clayton doing great work to encourage the local community to get out onto the bank.
At their site in Middleton, Jamie is looking to take their facilities to the next level with the creation of a classroom area featuring decking that backs onto one of the lakes.
“There’s an old toilet block, disused for over 30 years, that I’ve got the lease on after long discussions with the council,” Jamie told us.
“My aim is to transform this through our community interest company, GJ Fisheries Outdoor Education, and have a classroom area, kitchenette, and a toilet with disabled access. It’ll be open to any group of children.”
