Two major fisheries have arranged fundraising events to support a top match angler who was admitted to intensive care following a serious work accident.
Andy Dyson hit the headlines in 2022 after playing a key part in one of the tightest Fish O’Mania finals in history, eventually being pipped to the title by less than 1lb.
The Cheshire-based angler continued to fish at the top level until the recent incident, which initially left him fighting for his life although he has now been moved to a recovery ward after his condition improved.
To support Andy and his family, Heronbrook Fisheries will host a 95-peg fundraiser on October 12 before Old Hough Fishery follows suit with a 100-peg contest on October 25.
“Andy is a great angler, but more importantly, he is well-liked by his peers. We just knew we had to do something to help when we heard the news,” explained Old Hough boss Melvin Sykes.
